Hyrule Castle may be safe from the rifts, and the King of Hyrule no longer Still Missing, but new larger rifts have opened up across Hyrule, and it will be up to Zelda and Tri to continue their quest to find a way to rescue Link by exploring the Lands of the Goddesses. As an overview quest, our walkthrough will guide you on a few more important Things to Do First in Hyrule before choosing to head to your next rift, including how to get Zelda’s Horse, find Dampe the Inventor, and uncover more Side Quests and minor Rifts in previously explored areas.

Since the Lands of the Goddesses Quest serves as an overarching goal leading to the more focused questlines in the Eldin Volcano, Mount Lanayru, and Faron Wetlands regions, this page will instead serve as an overview of how to reach these areas, and important things you can do along the way.

New Outfits

As you are officially given the task to seek out and repair the rifts in the Lands of the Goddesses, you’ll be given official attire for such an important task: the Royal Travel Attire. You’ll still be able to swap back to your Disguise if you wish, but you can also start unlocking more Clothing by undertaking various Side Quests and Activities, if you wish.

You can even earn free sets of Clothing by using certain Zelda-themed Amiibo, including Link amiibos to get the Red Tunic, Zelda amiibos to get the Blue Attire, or miscellaneous Legend of Zelda amiibo to get the Black Cat Clothing!

Zelda’s Horse

Be sure to talk to Impa before leaving Hyrule Castle, as she’ll explain she’s been preparing a horse just for you, and now seems like the perfect time to introduce to you to a horse that Zelda can call her own.

Once you begin the Impa’s Gift Sidequest, you can return to Hyrule Ranch, and get dragged into another search and rescue quest to find the horse trapped in a small rift that has appeared to the north at a carrot farm.

Once you’ve repaired the rift, pull out a Carrot to summon your new horse, and be sure to learn the Carrot Echo so that you can call your horse wherever you find yourself.

Now that you have your own horse, you can approach the girl with the carrot hairpin at Hyrule Ranch while on horseback to take part in a series of Flag Races around the ranch to test your skills! You'll be able to unlock three courses, and each have their own prizes for completing it (and bonus prizes for doing it under par!)

Dampe’s Automatons

An easily missed quest that can be vital to your adventure is found in the western section of the vast Hyrule Field. Look for a man with a giant wrench on his back arguing with a crow in the tree, just to the north of Hyrule Ranch.

Help the man defeat the crow to get his key back, and he’ll introduce himself as an engineer named Dampé, and will invite you to visit his workshop, starting the Automaton Engineer Dampe Sidequest.

You can find his workshop in the far northeast corner of Hyrule Field, (there’s a little house icon on the map even when uncharted). When you visit him, he’ll reveal that he’s an inventor of clockwork creatures that can assist you in battle, which can often provide more utility and damage than a simple Echo. The only problem is that he needs inspiration in the form of certain Echoes and Key Items.

You can try it out by showing him a Mothula and Tektite to start, and he’ll invent the Techtite, which can blast off with incredible power when it jumps. The only downside is that it takes a bit to wind up in battle, and if it’s damaged enough you’ll have to pay Dampé to fix it (or give him Monster Stones to waive the fee).

The other inventions he’ll need inspiration for will usually require a specific Key Item, and you’ll find many of these by completing challenging mini-games from places like the Hyrule Ranch’s Flag Races, the Gerudo Tough Mango Harvesting, or Kakariko Village’s Dream Dojo, so be sure to return often when you find what he needs. You can check his journal to start Explosions Galore! Sidequest, but we'll need to complete the Eldin Volcano region before we can complete it.

Hyrule Castle Revisited

A few things will have changed in the Hyrule Castle Town since you repaired the rift that are worth looking into:

  • General Wright will give you updates on monster sightings, and give you hints about new Sidequests featuring special minibosses - one in the Jabul Waters, one in Gerudo Desert (if you've already defeated two Lanmolas), and one you may have already completed in at the Temple in Eastern Hyrule Field called Let’s Play a Game.
  • A guard at the entrance to the Castle Town seems suspicious of his fellow guards, and will give you the One Soldier Too Many Sidequest to investigate a strange mystery.
  • On the other side of the western wall, you can find the Acorn Collecting minigame guy, who will challenge you to collect 10 Acorns in the river in 22 seconds, and will also award 3 Might Crystals if you do it in 11 seconds!

Suthorn Forest Revisited

Upon returning to the Suthorn Woods area to the south, you’ll find that a small rift has appeared in the eastern woods. While it’s not essential to the story, repairing it will award you some Might Crystals, as well as upgrading Tri’s power by a bit.

In addition you can find new Side Quests in this area:

  • What Is Snow… Really? - A small boy wishes to see the snow said to coat Hebra Mountain.

Jabul Waters Revisited

If you explore the Zora River again, you’ll find that a small rift has opened up in the top right corner of the upper river, east of the River Zora Village. It’s not essential to the main questline, but repairing it will bestow some Might Crystals, and upgrade Tri’s Power by a small amount.

In addition, new quests can be found in each of the major towns:

  • - An old man atop a boat in town needs help clearing out his Wrecked Ship along the coast from the electrified miniboss that lurks inside this mini-dungeon. Help him out, and you’ll gain a Heart Piece from defeating the boss, and a Fairy Bottle from the old man himself!

  • Big Shot - A River Zora has tried to make his claim by piloting a boat into the cove, but has found himself in a heap of trouble.
  • Secret Chief Talks - A Sea Zora outside the village is suspicious when his boss keeps meeting in secret without telling him, prompting you to track down the two Zora Chieftains to find the truth — and you’ll be rewarded for your efforts with a Gold Brooch Accessory!

Gerudo Desert Revisited

If you missed it earlier, more sandstorms have appeared in the eastern part of the desert triggered by a new Lanmola that drops even more Rupees when defeated. You’ll also find that a small rift has appeared at the northwest corner of the region above the top canyon where a cave full of Flying Tiles used to be.

There are also plenty more quests and activities that have cropped up in the region:

  • The Tough Mango Plant Lab now offers its most difficult Ultimate course, and they’ll award you the Dancer Outfit if you can clear it, which increases your spin radius. Harvest every single Tough Mango, and you can even earn a Piece of Heart!
  • Beetle Ballyhoo - A Gerudo warrior in the town's too afraid to clear out a cave of beetles, and needs your help. Offer your assistance, and you can earn a Heart Barrette Accessory.
  • Dohna’s Challenge - Your friend Dohna has beefed up security in the Gerudo Palace Treasury, but needs your help testing its defenses. Become a master thief, and you’ll be able to claim Silk Pajamas as your prize to increase hearts regained from sleeping in beds!
  • Wild Sandstorms - Once you’ve defeated the Red Lanmola of the western desert, and the Green Lanmola of the eastern desert, return to the Gerudo Palace Barracks to find two warriors training to take out a third Purple Lanmola. You can take it on yourself in the western desert, and will gain a Heart Piece for defeating it, and Facette will award you a Gold Sash that nullifies wind effects.

You’ll have your choice of which region to visit next, and you can see the list below in the order we recommend:

  • To start The Rift on Eldin Volcano, head out into Western Hyrule Field to find the roads beyond Hyrule Ranch that lead to Kakariko Village, with the large mountain trail above it.
  • To start the Rift on Holy Mount Lanayru, you’ll need to explore past the Northern Sanctuary across from Hyrule Castle to find a way up to the freezing peaks.
  • To start A Rift in the Faron Wetlands, you’ll need to blaze a trail along the high ridge that borders Lake Hylia and the Jabul Waters to find a path into the rain-soaked jungle.
